Technical information about this website’s accessibility
Ealing Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
Non-accessible content
The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.
Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
Images, Video & Audio Content
-
Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content).
SolutionWe plan to add text alternatives for all images by January 2021. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
Text Content
-
Some pages do not have properly formatted headings so people using a screen reader cannot fully understand the content of the page. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.10 (section headings)
Solution: We plan to add section headings to all pages by January 2021. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of section headings meets accessibility standards.
HTML
-
On some of our pages, tables and content including bullet points are not formatted correctly so page readers will not be able to read the content. This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion
Solution: We plan to fix these pages by September 2020. When we publish new pages, we’ll make sure input errors are automatically detected.
Disproportionate burden
-
When using a mobile device, users are not able to navigate using just one finger
-
Users are not able to navigate the website effectively using only keyboard strokes rather than a mouse
-
Users do not have an option to skip to main content of a page when using a keyboard to avoid cycling through all the tabs on the head of a page
-
Users are not able to use the website without text spilling off the page when the page is zoomed in on
As our website is provided by a third party application it is not possible for the website’s technology to adhere to all accessibility criteria. We will require that any new third-party systems we commission are Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 AA compliant.
